Hi! I’m Cindy–recipe maker, treat baker, and picture taker at Hungry Girl por Vida. I believe in creamy coffee, layered birthday cakes, and making room for dessert. You’ll find mostly from-scratch recipes here. I like to make delicious things that taste as great as they look. There will be lots of carbs, homemade treats, tempting cocktails, and some savory things as well.
I started this blog in 2008 with little direction. I fashioned a name out of a song I was listening to, baked some cookies, wrote some LiveJournal-style nonsense, and hit publish. I like to think I’ve come a long way since then.
I am a regular contributor for Betty Crocker, where I share lots of easy savory and sweet recipes. My work has also been featured on Buzzfeed, Popsugar Select Food, Artful Blogging Magazine, Couch Magazine (Germany), HuffPost Taste, Women’s Weekly Magazine (UK), Country Living Magazine, and more. Want to work together? Email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
More about me, if you’re into that stuff: I currently live in Portland, OR with my husband (Sean), young son (Casper), and our two dogs (Jezebel and Luxe). I’m Korean-American. I was born near Seoul but grew up in California and Nevada. I also lived in Michigan for a few years before settling here in Portland. I hate raisins, emptying the dishwasher, and spiders. I love coffee ice cream, wrapping gifts, and hoarding nail polish. I made 8 different mini desserts for my wedding (in a kitchen with 3 feet of counter space and no dishwasher) but bought our cake from Whole Foods at the last minute. I have a terrible sense of humor and laugh at my own jokes.
