Hi! I’m Cindy–recipe maker, treat baker, and picture taker at Hungry Girl por Vida. I believe in creamy coffee, layered birthday cakes, and making room for dessert. You’ll find mostly from-scratch recipes here. I like to make delicious things that taste as great as they look. There will be lots of carbs, homemade treats, tempting cocktails, and some savory things as well.
I started this blog in 2008 with very little direction. I fashioned a name out of a song I was listening to, baked some cookies, wrote some LiveJournal-style nonsense, and hit publish. Things have changed a lot in the last ten years, but I still love making tasty things and sharing them on the internet with you. I regularly contribute to Simply Recipes and am a former contributor for Betty Crocker. My work has also been featured on Buzzfeed, Popsugar Select Food, Artful Blogging Magazine, Couch Magazine (Germany), HuffPost Taste, Women’s Weekly Magazine (UK), Country Living Magazine, and more. Want to work together? Email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
Some notes on my recipes. I recently started adding weights to my recipes, in addition to the traditional volume measures. I use the scoop + level method for measuring my ingredients by cup and weigh from there–for example, I fluff up the flour in the container using a whisk, dip my cup measurer in and then level it off with a straight edge. The weights may differ slightly from online conversion charts (like that found on King Arthur Flour) but I do aim to get close. All of my recipes are tested using this method in my home kitchen. I use a digital scale for checking my ounce and gram measurements.
