I think it is safe to say that by now, we have all heard and seen news of the devastation in Japan. The sheer amount of destruction catches my breath every time I catch a glimpse. It has been a reminder that life is fleeting and that our earth, in all of it’s wonder and amazement, is an indifferent host.
Like many of you, I have wondered how I can help. Utterly Engaged and Ever Ours have paired up and launched this campaign, For Japan With Love, which is collecting donations for the charity ShelterBox. I loved the idea of donation to ShelterBox as I know exactly how my donation will be used. Sean and I do not have a ton to give, so when we do we try to seek out organizations with a solid mission. From Ever Ours:
“Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.”
As well as collecting donations, For Japan With Love is also hosting a blogger’s day of silence this Friday, March 18th, in honor of the loss of life in Japan. That means, this Friday I will be tech-free and spending time with my people…whom I love dearly.
If you would like to donate or participate in the day of silence please visit For Japan With Love.
