Chai Spice Caramel Apple Pie
Happy Holidays and (almost) New Year! Truth be told, I wasn’t going to share anything this week, but then I remembered that I made and photographed one of our favorite holiday pies before Thanksgiving and never shared it here. So, here it is: Chai Spiced Caramel Apple Pie!

Spiced Cider Hot Toddy
My husband, Sean, and I are awful at dating. This isn’t a new thing that happened after Casper was born, it’s also not something we lament. We just tend to stay in and order take-out over going out. Recently, we did go out (and by recently I mean in October) and I had a toddy that I cannot stop thinking about! It was from Bithouse Saloon here in Portland and had hot cider, cachaca, lemon, maple, and this thick, dense layer of softly whipped cream that acted as a sort of lid you had to sip the toddy through. SO GOOD. Since we’re just the homebodiest of homebodies, especially as the temperatures dip, I knew I had to recreate something similar at home.

Lemon Pistachio Linzer Cookies
Honey Grapefruit Bundt Cake
Hello! Are you guys in full-on holiday festivities mode? I tend to go a little nuts and deck the halls as soon as the Thanksgiving leftovers hit the Tupperware. So, needless to say, we’ve been in it for a few weeks now. Our tree is up and decorated, twinkly lights and fresh garland are strewn about inside and out of the house, and of course, the oven has been on non-stop to accommodate all the buttery, sugary baked goods that are rolling out of our kitchen (and into the bellies of our neighbors and Sean’s colleagues).

Apple + Marionberry Marzipan Crumble
This happens to me every year and I don’t know why it’s still such a surprise but I cannot believe the holidays are about to be in full swing! Luckily, we aren’t hosting this year for Thanksgiving or Christmas, so I get to focus on doing just a few things and a variation of this crumble is high on the list. It comes from my friend, Alanna Taylor-Tobin of The Bojon Gourmet’s new book Alternative Baker. I’ve been lucky enough to meet Alanna twice and both times I was struck by her wit and warmth. Like her gorgeous blog, her book is full of recipes built upon gluten-free grain and flours that both manage to meet the expectations of their gluten-filled counterparts and celebrate the profiles of alternative flours. One of my favorite features of the book is the short list of flours needed below the title of each recipe. I love handy details like that!

Rice Cooker Oats with Brûléed Bananas + Vanilla Bean Cream
Today we’re celebrating one of the sweetest bloggers around Cynthia of Two Red Bowls and the birth of her new baby boy Luke! If I am being honest, I’m having a difficult time writing this post because it makes me feel so many feels and I just keep writing and deleting and starting over and what I really want to say can’t totally be said. It’s totally impossible to really describe with words the sensation of being just completely and utterly consumed by a new life. It’s truly overwhelming and seemingly impossible the way your heart just explodes with fresh love for this person you have just met.

White Chocolate Marble Dipped Cookies
Hii! I know, it’s been a while and I missed you guys! I’ve been galavanting around and then generally trying to shake the post-vacation blues because we went to Maui and can I say that it was DAMN AMAZING. Somehow more of a dream than I expected. I really can’t complain, though because fun times were had by all and now it’s back to the grind because that’s just life, ya know?

Molly Yeh’s Funfetti Cupcakes
Hai!! I am currently on vacation with my boys (our first since our honeymoon 6 years ago!) but I had to pop in with these cupcakes because, I mean, look at them! They’re from Molly Yeh’s new book, Molly on the Range, and they are homemade funfetti perfection. Her book is full of charming stories, fun recipes, and Molly’s warm, candid writing. Of all the incredible, marzipan and tahini-laced recipes, naturally, I went for the funfetti cake (because sprinkles!).I decided to make these as cupcakes because they’re cute (duh) and so I could easily pawn them off on our neighbors because I am NOT to be trusted with a whole layered, funfetti wonder of a cake.

Baileys Pumpkin Spice Coffee Custards
Hello!! I’m back after a bit of a hiatus where I did approximately zero baking and (insanely) decided it would be a good idea to embark on a solo 10-hour road trip with my two-year-old. BUT! I come bearing another boozy, adults-only treat, so please forgive me? This is the second recipe in collaboration with Baileys and their new, limited Pumpkin Spice flavor (this bombshell pumpkin cheesecake was the first). During the holidays it’s a tradition in my home–started by Sean and I when we were wee, young college students–to always have a bottle of Baileys in the cupboard for tipping into mugs of coffee or pouring over ice. Even though the holidays aren’t upon us yet, I already know that we’ll have both this original Baileys and the new Pumpkin Spice flavor stocked.
